Introduction
Most students see a teacher at the grocery store and think, oh my gosh, that's MY TEACHER!, not realizing that most of us teachers are normal human beings. I just happen to be the exception, so I thought I'd give you a little background information on my life. Enjoy!

My Roots
I spent my first few years of life in the San Francisco Bay area, but shortly moved onto the vast metropolis of Columbus, Ohio. Before you start your jokes about Ohio, you should know the following facts:
  1. Ohio has double the population of Washington state.
  2. More presidents (8) hail from Ohio than any other state.
  3. My college football team could most definitely beat your college football team.
My parents decided to move away from California due to the economic issues. And they also dragged me and my sister, Lara, along for the ride. Oh, did I mention I have a sister? She is a few years older and currently lives in New York City. Back to me... I played a variety of sports, from basketball to lacrosse to rugby, but proved to be only another average athlete. My area of greatest talent has always been the arts and I still enjoy painting, writing music, and mocking other people's poetry. I went to college at The Ohio State University, enrolling just in time to watch the football program collapse. At OSU, I bounced around from major to major (graphic design, then communications, then journalism), and eventually chose to major in both finance and urban planning. I graduated shortly after 9/11 and worked in New York State for the following year. I returned to Ohio, and eventually jetisoned off to Seattle to pursue a career in Real Estate Development. I ended up working for about 5 years in business before switching over to teaching 2 years ago. I love teaching, and wouldn't trade it for the bloated salary of a business executive (although I will look at all offers... what can I say... we all have a price!).
